The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) helps
bring health care to those who need it the most by placing health care professionals in designated areas of need. The NHSC has been building healthy communities
by connecting primary health care providers to areas of the U.S. with limited access to care. This is achieved by awarding scholarships and loan repayment to primary
care providers in NHSC disciplines who commit to serving at NHSC-approved sites in these areas of need. This information is provided through charts, maps, reports,
tables and various types of search engines.
Special Note: The term “full-time equivalents” refers to a measure of the amount of care provided for participants in the NHSC loan repayment and scholarship programs. If a provider is working 100 percent of the time at a site, then the FTE value for that provider is 1.00. If a provider is working 50 percent of the time at a site, then the FTE value for that provider is .50. A FTE of 1.00 may be a result of a single individual working full-time or by two people working 50 percent of the time.
