Online processing of shortage designation applications suspended

Daily updates of Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) data have been suspended and HPSA scores locked for the National Health Service Corps and NURSE Corps Loan Repayment Programs’ new award application cycle. Daily HPSA data updates are scheduled to resume in Spring 2016. Please direct any questions to your State Primary Care Office and/or the appropriate Shortage Designation Project Officer.

Note: Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) are designated by HRSA as having shortages of primary care, dental or mental health providers and may be geographic (a county or service area), population (e.g. low income or Medicaid eligible) or facilities (e.g. federally qualified health center). Medically Underserved Areas/Populations are designated by HRSA as having too few primary care providers, high infant mortality, high poverty, or a high elderly population. More about shortage areas.
