Shortage Designations and Scores Frozen for Loan Repayment Program Application Cycles
Daily updates of Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) data have been suspended and HPSA scores locked for the National Health Service Corps and NURSE Corps Loan Repayment Programs’ new award application cycle. Daily HPSA data updates are scheduled to resume in Spring 2017. Please direct any questions to your State Primary Care Office or the appropriate Shortage Designation Project Officer.
Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) are designated by HRSA as having shortages of primary care, dental care, or mental health providers and may be geographic (a county or service area), population (e.g., low income or Medicaid eligible) or facilities (e.g., federally qualified health centers, or state or federal prisons).
